Living architectures

Aquitecturas vivas, presentada en la Bienal New Performance Turku (Finlandia), investiga la relación entre el cuerpo, la vestimenta y el espacio, centrándose en las «prótesis arquitectónicas». El artista ha creado edificios vestibles a escala humana que funcionan como extensiones de su cuerpo, permitiendo acciones y gestos que exploran cómo el cuerpo —al igual que los edificios— alberga historia y política. Estas prendas son herramientas lúdicas para dinamizar la arquitectura y explorar nuestra manera de habitar distintos entornos construidos. La performance es una intervención de espacio: establece un diálogo con los edificios y estructuras circundantes —la biblioteca, el Maaherran Virkatalo y una banca—, invitándonos a prestar atención a las interacciones cotidianas, tanto materiales como espaciales, que se producen entre nuestros cuerpos y los espacios urbanos.

Living Architectures presented at the New Performance Turku Biennale (Finland) investigates the relationship between the body, clothing, and space focusing on “architectural prosthetics”. The artist has developed wearable human-size buildings that operate as extensions of his body allowing actions, and gestures to explore how the body, as buildings, holds history and politics. The garments are playful tools to animate architecture and explore how we inhabit different built environments. The performance is site specific: it engages in a dialogue with the surrounding buildings and structures where it is happening — the library, the Maaherran Virkatalo and a bench— inviting us to pay attention to the everyday interactions, both material and spatial, occurring between our bodies and urban spaces.
